SAN RAMON, CALIFORNIA. – October 31, 2016. ONVIF®, the leading global standardization initiative for IP-based physical security products, announced today that it will participate in Secured Cities 2016, an educational conference devoted to urban security initiatives and municipal surveillance projects. ONVIF will also be a sponsor of the three-day event, which will be held Nov. 15-17 in Houston, Texas, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Reliant Park.
As part of the Secured Cities educational program, ONVIF will discuss the rise of fully-integrated ‘Secured Cities’ and the role integration plays in their deployment. Integration of systems and products from a variety of vendors and technology disciplines and the use of standards in Secured City environments will be explored. Stuart Rawling, a member of ONVIF’s Steering Committee and Director of Global Business Development for Pelco by Schneider Electric, will present the session, “Interoperability: The Engine Running Safe Cities”, on Wednesday, Nov. 16th, at 5:40 P.M. in the San Jacinto 3 room.
“The success of secured city deployments hinges on the interoperability and common communication interfaces that ONVIF and other standards organizations provide,” said Per Björkdahl, ONVIF Steering Committee Chair. “We are excited to sponsor Secured Cities and to discuss the nuts and bolts of interoperability and how standards are being used to bridge the gaps between manufacturers, devices and technologies.”
In addition to its sponsorship and seminar presentation, ONVIF will be represented by several member companies exhibiting at Secured Cities, accounting for approximately 30 percent of all exhibitors at this year’s event, including: ASSA ABLOY, Axis Communications, Bosch Security Systems, Inc., Dallmeier electronic, FLIR Systems, Genetec, Hitachi, IndigoVision, Milestone, Pelco by Schneider Electric, Salient Systems, TELESTE and VideoInsight.
Founded in 2008, ONVIF now consists of nearly 500 member companies in six continents and more than 7,000 Profile conformant products. With Profile S for streaming video; Profile G for recording and storage; Profile C for physical access control; Profile Q for improved out-of-the-box functionality and the Release Candidate Profile A for access control configuration, ONVIF continues to work with its members to expand the number of IP interoperability solutions ONVIF conformant products can provide.
