ONVIF Releases Profile T for Advanced Video Streaming

ONVIF®, the leading global standardization initiative for IP-based physical security products, has announced the final release of Profile T, a new specification with advanced video streaming capabilities and an expanded feature set for metadata streaming and analytics. MILWAUKEE (May 8, 2018) – Johnson Controls introduces a new line of high-capacity, front-accessible hard disk drive (HDD) recorders within its exacqVision A-Series portfolio in response to the increasing demands for video storage expansion.

The use of video surveillance to detect, deter and prosecute crime has grown significantly, and increases in camera resolutions and frame rates have caused the need for video storage to surge at an unprecedented rate.

The new front accessible recorders feature eight front-accessible storage bays with up to 80TB of storage available, all in a smaller, more compact 2U chassis. The flexible configuration provides hassle-free maintenance and service, allowing users to simply shut down the system and add hard drives from the front of the chassis for a future-focused surveillance operation.

VideoPush lets operators quickly send, or “push”, video search results to another user’s screen or spot monitor to aid in investigations for powerful user collaboration.


ONVIF to Explore Standards, Safe City Deployments at ISC West 2018

SAN RAMON, Calif. – March 22, 2018. ONVIF®, the leading global standardization initiative for IP-based physical security products, announced today that it will speak at ISC West 2018, April 10-13, at the Sands Expo in Las Vegas, Nev., as part of SIA Education@ISC, the Security Industry Association’s educational program held in conjunction with ISC West. ONVIF will also be hosting the ONVIF Lounge at Booth L0 within the Sands Expo, where attendees can relax and recharge their mobile devices.

ONVIF Steering Committee member Stuart Rawling will be speaking on behalf of ONVIF on “Interoperability: The Engine Running Safe Cities,” on April 12, 2018, from 1:15-2:15 PM. The presentation will focus on the benefits of a standardized approach to safe city deployments, and how standards like ONVIF can help to close the gap between disparate systems. ONVIF Calls on Developers for Advanced Video Streaming Challenge

ONVIF®, the leading global standardization initiative for IP-based physical security products, is announcing the ONVIF Open Source Spotlight Challenge, a technology competition to develop open source applications for innovative IP video streaming applications to help resolve global security issues.

The two-month online challenge, offered in conjunction with BeMyApp, offers lucrative cash prizes for developers who use the protocol provided by ONVIF to create open source mobile or desktop applications for advanced video streaming that provides easy and secure authentication from all platforms. Developers will connect to online prototype cameras with Profile T functionality from Axis Communications, Bosch Security and Safety Systems, Dahua Technology, Hikvision and Uniview for the challenge.
