Johnson Controls CEM Systems access control equipment compliant with EU’s new Radio Equipment Directive (RED)
BELFAST, UK. (13 September, 2017) – Johnson Controls can confirm that their powerful range of CEM Systems access control hardware is compliant with the European Union’s new Radio Equipment Directive (RED) 2014/53/EU, which came into full effect on 13 June 2017. CEM Systems intelligent card readers including the CEM S610 (iCLASS SE, DESFire and Prox) reader, CEM S700 reader, CEM emerald reader and their biometric equivalents are all RED compliant and continue to be available for distribution within the EU. The CEM sPass reader and CEM S3040 portable reader are also confirmed as being RED compliant.
C•CURE 9000 access control platform adds new smart card encoding to increase credential security and flexibility
MILWAUKEE, August 31, 2017 ––Johnson Controls introduces the newest versions of its C•CURE 9000 security and event management platform from Software House to now include greater credential security and flexibility in smart card encoding by integrating with two new smart card technologies.
New personnel and credential management functionalities for the Software House C•CURE 9000 v2.60 SP1 (standalone) and v2.61 (unified with victor from American Dynamics) adds support for NXP MIFARE DesFire EV1 and EV2 smart card encoding. This allows multiple applications, such as access control, vending, and parking to be combined into a single contactless smart card, with the user in complete control of the card’s memory and key material. To further protect against card tampering, the encoding setup features an optional Anti-Cloning diversified key, per NXP’s Generic Access Control Data Model.

The latest version of the multi-integrative, highly flexible flagship C•CURE 9000 platform allows visitors to self-register using the new visitor management Kiosk Application for iOS iPad devices. Visitors can look up their appointments by entering their name or email address and host name into specific fields through the Kiosk Application. Once the visit is confirmed by C•CURE 9000 and a credential is created, a temporary identification label or card can be printed from the C•CURE 9000 client. An email notification of the visitor’s arrival is promptly sent to the host.
